9th GC German Open Championship
THE EVENT
The 9th. German Open Golf Croquet Tournament will be held at Renzel, close to Hamburg, Germany from Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st May 2017. The Club will be open to competitors for practice on Thursday and Friday before the tournament starts. Holder is Stephen Mulliner/England.
DETAILS
Entries will be limited to 12 players. We try to get in as many as possible players from abroad; a colourful field of players from many nations is part of the tradition of German Open tournaments. The field will be completed with top German players. Matches will be single 13 point games in the preliminary stage and best-of-three 13 point games in the final and semifinals. Those who do not qualify for the knock-out stage will be able to enter a Plate event. All losers will be able to continue playing so that a full final ranking of positions will be produced. The format is subject to adjustments. Two full size croquet lawns will be used double banked, except for the semi-finals and final.
EUROPEAN MASTERS
The 11th German Open GC is part of the European Masters. One player from each participating country in the European Masters to apply within two weeks from now has priority acces to our tournament. Countries that have already chosen to participate include Switzerland, Belgium, Latvia, Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic, Spain and still deciding maybe Italy, Austria, Scotland and yet more. SOCIAL
A special emphasis will be put on the social side of the event: For this year's off-court-programme every player is asked to bring one cheese and one wine speciality from his/her home town or country. Accompanying persons are welcome to take part in the off-court-programme.
ACCOMODATION
There is a comfortable guest house next to the lawns where accomodation is available at 35,00 EUR per person and night.
TROPHY & FEE
The entry fee includes all local transport, lunch on Saturday & Sunday, Saturday night dinner and courtside drinks. accompanying persons pay just for their meals. The fees are to be adjusted to the expenses and, for players, will be between EUR 50 and EUR 80. There will be prizes for all participants.
