The 2015 GC Belgian Open Tournament will be held at the Brussels Croquet Club at Genval (near to Brussels), on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August. The Club will be open to competitors for practice on the Friday before the tournament starts. The 2014 winner was Viscount Charles-Eric Vilain XIIII.
Details
Matches will be single 13 or 19 point games in the block stages (depending on size of entry) and best-of-three 13 point games in final and semi-finals. The bottom 2 from each initial block of 4 players then play the top 2 from another block, with the top 2 from these second blocks advancing to the quarter-finals. All losers will be able to continue playing so that a full final ranking of positions will be produced. The format is subject to adjustments. Games will be double-banked until the final.
European masters
The Belgian Open is part of the European Masters series in 2015. Players from participating countries in the European Masters (one from each) to apply before Sunday 22 March may have priority access to our tournament. Countries that have already chosen to participate include Switzerland, Belgium, Latvia, Germany, Portugal, Czech Republic, Spain, Austria, Wales and still deciding maybe Italy, Scotland and yet more. Other issues
As usual, the Gala Dinner on Saturday night at the Chateau du Lac is a special feature of the Belgian Open and is included in the entry fee, as well as lunches and court-side drinks. Accomodation at the Hotel Chateau du Lac (****) is available at special rates agreed with the Croquet Federation of Belgium. For details contact the manager (see below). The entry fee for participation in the Belgian Open 2015 is 140 euro. Accompanying persons are welcome to join us at the gala dinner for an extra 60 euro, including all drinks.
