On behalf of the Federazione Italiana Sport Croquet, I am glad to announce the "9th Coppa del Serchio" Golf Croquet Open Championship 2016, which will take place on the 10th-11th September, 2016 on the historical Walls of Lucca (Tuscany). The event has asked to be part of the European Masters 2016 (see more details at: http://www.eurocroquet.eu/index.php/european-masters).
The tournament will consists of at least 4 round of 13 point single games scheduled following a flexible Swiss format, followed by a knock-out among the top four players; the knock-out matches will be best-of-three 13 point games. Double banking may be used depending on the number of players, and time restrictions.
For this event, two lawns are being prepared on “Baluardo San Donato” a large green area on the top of the city walls: the city council and the players from the Circolo Lucchese Croquet are putting their best efforts in preparing quality lawns, but the result may not be as good as proper croquet lawns use to be; if the lawns may be less than perfect, the location will be nonetheless magnificent. The entry fee is 15.00 Euros, to be paid at the start of the tournament. A gala dinner for the players and their companions will be held on Saturday night: it will cost about 35.00 Euros per person. Please confirm your attendance when sending your entry.
The lawns will be available to practice a couple of days before the tournament; during all the week before the tournament, practice may be arranged at Circolo Lucchese Croquet. Lucca's medieval and Renaissance features are enclosed in its thick sixteenth century walls, a characteristic of this beautiful Tuscan town on the left of the Serchio river.
